Meet Nick Kunec of Kunec Cattle Company – a forward-thinking grazier blending family legacy with regenerative innovation. While the farm itself has deep roots within Nick’s family in 2017, Nick took over the operation from his uncle, and with that transition came a renewed vision: to raise certified organic, grass-fed beef using regenerative practices that restore soil and ecosystem health.
At the heart of their management is a commitment to animal and land stewardship. Nick uses his herd of cattle to implement ultra-high-density, ultra-high-rest grazing techniques, mimicking the natural movement of wild herds. This approach not only improves pasture productivity but also enhances biodiversity and builds soil carbon. Kunec Cattle Company is also a proud participant in the Regenerative Alberta Living Lab, collaborating with researchers and producers to test, refine, and share regenerative methods that work on the ground.
