For more than a decade our Alyssa has been at the helm of LARA, helping guide research, innovation, and education that supports producers across Northeastern Alberta. With more than 15 years of experience in agricultural research, Alyssa is passionate about practical, producer-driven solutions that make a real difference on the farm.

A Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, Alyssa’s expertise lies in livestock production, forage management, and animal nutrition. She began her journey at LARA as the Forage and Livestock Specialist before stepping into the Executive Director role, where she now works closely with producers, researchers, and industry partners to bring applied agricultural research from the field to the farm gate.

Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science from the University of Saskatchewan and believes some of the best ideas start with a good conversation in a field, pasture, or research plot.

Outside the office, Alyssa is happiest outdoors—often on horseback or spending time on her acreage with her husband and two kids, where agriculture isn’t just a career, it’s a way of life.
